Gratitude

Friend, on this Thanksgiving Day I am reminded of God’s mercies which are new every morning!

In the Book of Nehemiah, we read that Nehemiah was the cup bearer to King Artaxerses. After hearing that the walls of Jerusalem were in ruins he was asked by the King why he was sad. Nehemiah explained his grief and because of the favor of the Lord, Nehemiah was able to begin rebuilding the walls. (Read more Nehemiah 1-7)

As I reflect on this story I am reminded of the mandate that we all carry; the sharing of the Good News of the gospel of the Resurrected King, Jesus.

Joy in rebuilding. Joy in today! Joy in each task!

As Nehemiah rebuilt the ruins with those who gathered to complete the wall, he was met with opposition, mockery, division from within his own people. Yet, Nehemiah kept his eyes in what God put in his heart; rebuilding the walls. He did it IN JOY!

Where is your joy coming from today?

Are you staying focused on the mandate God has given you?

As I reflect on what God has entrusted me with, I am thankful and grateful for His mercies.

I reflect on how The Lord has been my guide in each season even when Joy seemed to be a vapor. With deep reflection and seeking His promises today I can look into the profound love on the Joy that is in Jesus im a way I did not before.

At the beginning of 2025, the story of Nehemiah became one of encouragement as I said “Yes” to the mandate God gave me for the year.
